2Do I need a work visa to work in China and how will I get it?
Yes. In China you must get a work permit, also known as work visa in order to work here. All our teachers are offered the work permit so they can work and live safely and legally in the country. After you confirm our offer our visa team will assist you throughout the whole process to obtain your work visa.
3I can’t speak Chinese, is that a problem?
Knowing the language beforehand definitely helps but you can surely teach in China without speaking Chinese. Students are expected to get immersed in English during class, so speaking Chinese is actually discouraged in class. During the daily life, you will be surprised at how comfortable you become in the language since you are exposed to it every day. On the other hand, schools often give free Chinese lessons and you will be provided with assistance when necessary.
4Where should I live upon my arrival?
It’s certainly a challenge finding a place to live in a new country, but it’s not as difficult as it might sound. In the first week, schools usually arrange a one-week free hotel for new teachers to stay. During the period schools will assist new teachers to find their own apartments. It’s also likely that some schools will provide housing to their own teachers.
5What happens if I get sick?
Going to hospital can be a daunting experience that we all want to avoid. So all our teachers are covered by medical insurance. Medical institutions in China are pretty easy to find no matter where you live and doctors always speak English so you won’t have problem communicating with them.
6What kind of holidays I will enjoy and will I get paid for the holidays?
It would be enjoyable to return home or go travelling during holiday time. There is annual leave and paid holidays at each school for teachers to take while it depends on different schools as to how long the holiday is. It can be pretty flexible at some schools so you might enjoy free time of months on a yearly basis.
